Interior Design Tricks to Brighten A Room

Brighten Your Room

Have you ever been in a situation where you have a dingy and dim room that needs a bit of brightening up? You’d be amazed at how simple it can be to bring some light to a room with needing to break the bank.

You cannot imagine what effect a luminous house can have on your mood when you start to feel grumpy and sad all day long. To stop it from getting to this point, I am your problem-solver. Here are some tips and tricks to brightening your home – and your mood:

1) Lights.

Sound pretty obvious right? However, I bet you might not be maximizing your light. You will want to have multiple light sources, as one light fixture is not enough to brighten a room (especially if it is a dark one).

You will want a table lamp or a floor lamp, but it depends on the type and size of the room. For example, if you are trying to illuminate your bedroom, you will want to add a table lamp by your bedside. If your bedroom is spacious, you can add a floor lamp in the corner of the room.

2) Paint

At this point, you are probably thinking, why are you even reading this article with these obvious tips but, hear me out. I cannot stress this out enough, paint your ceiling white. Having a white ceiling will help reflect the light and give a luminous effect.

If you do not want an all-white room and want to paint your walls different colors, I suggest lavender, lemon yellow, powder blue, or lime green. All pastels colors are preferred, but you should know that only a neutral white color will be the most reflective

3) Mirrors

Add Mirrors

Did you know that you can add mirrors to add light to a room? With their reflective properties, if you strategically place your mirror, it can make your space feels not only brighter but also bigger; why not kill two birds with one stone?

Where to place the mirrors, you may ask., Put them opposite to your window or any of your light sources. Invest in a big mirror, since it will reflect more light.

4) Ditch the Clutter

I’m not too fond of a room with too many things. Do you ever feel like you’re suffocating when you’re in a particular room? Examine all of your “things.” When a room is crammed with stuff, it feels gloomy and tiny. All of it should be reduced. You can add a few artworks to your wall, but keep it minimalist.

5) Your Floors.

Choose Light Brown.

We talked about the ceilings, the walls, now let’s get to the floor. If you want additional light, you will want to have lights tiles or flooring. Choose a light brown or even white if you can. Like we’ve been mentioning so far, the more white in a room, the more light will reflect.

6) Colorful Rugs

Okay, I think it is the only time I will talk about adding colors to make a room brighter. A wide, colorful rug is a simple way to define a space in your house. It may also be utilized to add personality to your area and showcase your unique style.

7) Use Shiny Surfaces Or Transparent Furniture.

While you don’t want to go overboard with the glare on the walls, shiny materials can help you bounce light. Choose glistening things like acrylic accents, transparent furniture, and mirrored surfaces like a reflecting coffee table for a space with little sunshine.

Did you ever consider that the furniture you pick affects the amount of light in your room? Choose a small sofa in bright tones like white or ivory to make your space feel more spacious and lighter. Transparent acrylic pieces can also aid in illumination improvement.

That’s it! Those are my top tips for illuminating ANY space. I hope that it put you in a good mood and that you enjoy redecorating. If you know any other ways to brighten up a dark room t, I’d love to hear them in the comments below!
